Safety Switches on light circuits

Yes and No. Any new dwelling requires the installation of a safety switch on the power and lighting circuits. However older home are only required to comply with the regulations as they were when the home was built. If you do a major upgrade of the switchboard (during a renovation for example) then the current regulations would apply and a safety switch would be required on the lighting circuit. Electricians Plus recommends the  installation of safety switches on light circuits as it will provide an increased level of safety.
